Our History
Faithful Moore Lodge #009 was formed October 1983 under the
charter name of Bold City Lodge #009 in Jacksonville, Florida. Illus.
Lillian Moore Worthy Matron wanted a brother lodge for Sonja
Chapter #601. Sov. Illus. James Penn, Supreme Deputy, Illus. Lillian
Moore Supreme Deputy, and Brother James R. Smith, then a
member of Oakland Lodge #75 organized the lodge. When the
members were ready, S/I James Penn suggested the chapter of Bold
City Lodge #009 be reinstated. Reinstatement was granted in October
1983, by the Supreme Grand Master S/I Henry Williams, Brother
James R. Smith assumed the position of Worshipful Master. The roll
consisted of nine members. Three made brothers and six which were
initiated. The first meeting was held on Saturday, November 5, 1983.
On December 3, 1983 Faithful Moore Lodge held it first official
election. Brother James R. Smith was officially elected Worshipful
Master. January 1984 the members submitted a request to the
Supreme Grand Lodge to change the lodge name from Bold City
Lodge #009 to Faithful Moore Lodge #009.
In February 1984 permission was given by the Supreme Grand
Master S/I Henry Williams granting the changing of the lodge name.
This was our new beginning, The lodge membership increased. In
1984 Brother Dan Smith Jr. Demitted from Oakland Lodge #75 and
Brothers Elroy Green, Freddy Randolph, and Gilbert Long demitted
from St. Mark Lodge. The membership continued to grow in the up
coming years.
In 1987 and several years to come the lodge received the following
State Awards: Appreciation Certificate; Second Mile Awards; Lodge
of the Year; Worshipful Master of the Year; Secretary of the Year;
and Master Mason of the Year.
The Lodge also received several of the same awards on the Supreme
Level. October 2006 was Faithful Moore 24th year in existence
thanks to hard work and dedication from its members. Worshipful
Masters serving Faithful Moore Lodge #009 is as follows: Bro James
R. Smith Sr. 1983 - 1987, Bro Dan Smith Jr. 1988-2003, and Bro
Carl Thomas 2004 - 2006. Bro Steven K. Johnson 2007 to Present.
